Reflection/Connection
Reflecting after a writing workshop.
The workshop was with Jan Elisabeth from Alchemical wonderings called ‘calmly by candlelight’. We opened with a poem by Camille T. Dungy - Characteristics of Life. It starts off with ‘‘Ask me if I speak for the snail…’’ It brought to mind a poem that I had written a few years ago called Wondering. I posted it in March last year. (And oops, I think I just reposted it again! I need to learn how Substack works!)
We spoke of connections and longing and darkness and…and…and here is what came up for me.
Reflection/Connection January 19, 2026 Ask me what I know of longing… That strong desire, that craving… The yearning for someone, something…for clarity. Ask me what I know of longing… About an ideal world, where all is well A longing for utopia, perhaps. Ask me what I know of longing… Imagine, a ‘perfectly balanced’ world Where different societies; be it human, animal or other, fit together Like a complex puzzle…perfectly connecting. Ask me what I know of longing… I will tell you that it brings forth great reflection Of one’s life, one’s wishes, one’s hopes. Ask me for what am I longing… I will tell you that I long to have clarity of purpose in my life And I long for 'all' to know that we are inseparably connected… like a complex puzzle. **********************************************************

This is beautiful Jeannine.
